For math, I’m doing geometry. For science, I’m doing physics. In language arts, instead of working on a spelling book, I’m doing vocabulary study where I learn different Greek and Latin roots and English words derived from it. For formal reading, I started with “The Raven” by Edgar Allan Poe. After reading it once, I didn’t understand anything. I had to read it three times before finally understanding it. Now I’m reading “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott which I find interesting because it’s about four sisters and I find it funny, although some chapters are boring. I’m also doing Intermediate Logic and continuing with Latin and Spanish (although I really want to learn Japanese, Chinese, and Korean).

My mum teaches all of my subjects (except for gymnastics, ballet, and ice skating, of course). She is a very strict teacher – she expects me to wake up at 7:00 am everyday by myself and to do my best in all my schoolwork. When she thinks I’m not focusing, she gets mad and yells and threatens to take away my phone, laptop, and iPod. -_- I know though that she works hard to prepare my schoolwork and that all this training is to help me excel when I grow up. In her defense, she is sometimes funny.

I like homeschooling because I learn a lot and since I’m not in a regular school, I can do more sports and activities during the day.

I do dislike a couple of things about homeschooling like not having any classmates except for Rinoa. I miss having my friends around during school. :/ I also dislike being in the house most of the day. I liked it better when I went to a different building in the morning to go to school.

My favorite class is art because it’s the most fun and creative. :) My least favorite subject is history because I find it the most difficult.

This year, we now have a one-and-a-half-hour break in the afternoon called “quiet time”. ^__^ It helps a lot because I can do whatever I want, as long as it’s “quiet”, and now I don’t feel as tired in my afternoon lessons.

My Summer Days

Friday, August 13th, 2010

This summer has been great! I ice skated about 2 or 3 times a week. ^_^ I continued to take private lessons with my coach who pushes me to skate better. I joined one competition and one show. The competition was a bit challenging and I only got 6th place. >.< The show was even more challenging though. I had to do two half flips and a waltz jump and I messed the half flips up. It was embarrassing! >.< But both the show and competition were fun.

I also did off-ice conditioning classes like ballet, jumps, and dance performance. Each class is held onceĀ  a week and they’re each 45 minutes long. Ballet and Dance Performance are kinda the same. I think the only difference is that, in the Dance Performance, we learn routines in different dance categories. In Jumps Class, we mostly just practice the jumps that we’re learning on-ice and also practice our spins on spinners. All of the classes are a little bit hard but I think the Jumps Class is the hardest. But these classes have helped with my actual ice skating.

During my time on-ice and off-ice, I got to hang out with some of my figure skating friends who are AMAZING at skating! xD

Another thing I enjoyed this summer was spending time with M and M, friends I haven’t seen since grade school because I’m homeschooled now. In the process, I got introduced to new friends. My friends and I go to this lake by M’s house to swim and play. We also went to the movies, went ice skating, and went to each others houses. I had a lot of fun with them. :D Especially since I’m homeschooled, I don’t get to hang out with them often. >.>

I’ve been taking care of my new puppy, Dexter, too. We got him at the start of summer and he’s gotten so big! He’s a Boston Terrier. I have to wake up at 7 in the morning to take him outside to potty and then every 2 hours after that. I also walk him once a day. It’s a lot of work but it’s worth it. :)

The only thing I didn’t get to do this summer that I wanted to do is go to Florida. I really wanted to go there because of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Universal Studios. ^_^ I love Harry Potter and ever since the Harry Potter World came out, I’ve wanted to go there! They have awesome rides and I would love to check out the gift shops because they have cool stuff that was in the books and movies. :D
